QR Code WiFi

Are you tired of twisting around behind your internet box as soon as you want to share your WiFi code with a guest? What if we told you that there is really a LOT easier? It is indeed very easy to print a QR Code which will contain everything you need to initiate the WiFi connection. We explain everything to you in this quick tutorial.

How to print a QR Code that connects your guests to WiFi?

For that, it's very simple :

  • Go to the free site qifi.org
  • Complete the SSID, Encryption fields, and put your WiFi key in the "Key" field
  • Click Generate!
  • You can then click directly on Print! to print it or Export! to save it to your hard drive

How to connect to WiFi with the QR Code?

This is again very simple (that was the goal, you tell me!):

  • Open the photo app and point the lens at the QR Code
  • A notification offers to connect - click on it
  • You are connected!

Please note that the photo-taking application does not detect QR Codes on all Android smartphones, especially if they are a bit old. For the latter, there are fortunately applications specially designed to scan QR Codes.

The wifi site behind these QR Codes offers three alternatives: the Barcode Scanner application (ZXing), NeoReader, or any other QR Code application based on the ZXing library. Note also that all Huawei smartphones can scan QR Codes from their photo application when they have HiVision mode.

QR Code recognition in the Photos app is standard on all iPhones running iOS 12, 13, and 14. Other devices can also recognize it if you install a QR Code reader. Did this tip make your life easier? Tell us quickly in the comments of this quick tutorial!
